Marcela Pampin from Clenergy had a winning combo at All Energy Australia in Melbourne, here are some tips; ✅ Branding on point - from signs to uniforms ensure your brand is clean, tidy and well represented. Less is often more here and the stands that stand out are minimal and impactful. ✅ Friendly welcoming team - everyone should be smiling and encouraging passers by to stop in and say hi. Brief team members and remind them as the show goes on. ✅ Treats and incentives - a great way to get engagement is free snacks and drinks. Spot prizes and gifts can also get attention. Remember the environment though and avoid things that will end up going to waste. ✅ Customer journey - have activations that are appropriate for different stages of your customer journey - information for those that are just learning about your brand and maybe a deal room for customers ready to buy. Ever wondered how someone takes the leap from being a great tradesman to an even greater business owner? Well, buckle up because here’s another great systemisation story! Dimitri Markakis from Titan Electrical Group shares his story that’s bound to⚡spark⚡some inspiration (link in the comments). Here's how he got started... Don't try to systemise everything at once. This might seem counterintuitive, but focusing on creating a few essential systems is more effective than trying to systemise your entire business overnight. Identify your top 3-5 revenue-generating tasks and start there. Document the 80%. Don't get bogged down trying to create a system for every possible scenario. Focus on the 80% of situations that happen most often. You can always refine and add complexity later. Embrace imperfection. Your first systems won't be perfect, and that's okay. It's better to have a system in place that you can improve over time than no system at all. Sometimes, less is more. When documenting, avoid overly detailed instructions. If an all-male panel is called a 'Manel', what do you call an all-female panel? KIND OF AMAZING? It was such a dynamic panel session discussing 'Building a Skilled, Inclusive Workforce for the Transition and Beyond' at yesterday's Day 1 of the Power + Utilities Australia Leadership Summit. The conversation ranged from... the need to promote the energy industry as an industry of choice; the need to promote trade skills as a preferred post-high school career; the need to make sure organisations' culture both supports diversity through targets/collaboration/initiatives, but also just by having people in diversity represented across an organisation ('you can be it if you can see it'), the need to 'share the care' across families; the need to support/invest in/fund your employees to be part of training throughout their careers. It was great to get questions from the audience about how to familiarise students with the energy sector from high school (Cert II Career Starts!) and whether we can transition people into the sector (microcredentials for everyone!). There's a lot to be done, but as someone passionate about my industry, about teaching (I didn't lecture for a decade for nothing!) and about life-long learning, I think we've got this!
